Chattenborough is a photo-narration app for iPhone. This page explains what we collect, what we do with it, and how to get it deleted.
What we collect
- Your phone. There is no sign-in and no account. The first time the app runs it makes up a random identifier, keeps it in your phone’s Keychain, and sends it with each request; that is how we tell your narrations from everyone else’s. We never learn your name or email address.
- Your content. The photos and videos you choose to narrate, the titles and narration text we generate for them, the audio and video files we produce, and any animation prompt you type.
- Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, device type, timestamps) and crash reports. A session keeps your phone connected for up to 90 days. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
- On your phone. Camera and photo library access is used only when you take or pick a photo. Photos captured while offline stay on your device until they upload. The access key and a few settings are stored on the device.
How we use it
To create your narrations, show you your history, keep your phone connected, and fix errors. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Who processes it
Producing a narration involves a few outside services. Each one receives only what it needs for its step. How your photo is protected on the way to them and at rest, and what each of them keeps, is on the security page.
- Amazon Web Services hosts the app’s server and stores your uploads and the files we generate.
- Anthropic (Claude) looks at your photo and writes the narration and title.
- ElevenLabs turns the narration text into a voice.
- fal.ai animates a photo into a short video clip, if that feature is enabled on your account.
- Sentry receives error reports so we can fix crashes.
Sharing and visibility
Your narrations are visible only to you, in the app. A video you export and share leaves as an ordinary file, and who sees it is up to you.
Retention and deletion
We keep your content until you delete it. Deleting a narration in the app removes it from our storage. Database backups are kept for 7 days, so a deleted item can persist in a backup for up to 7 days.
To have everything your phone has narrated deleted at once, email dchattenborough@gmail.com and include the phone ID shown in the app’s menu (the person icon, top right). Tapping “Forget access key” in that menu disconnects the phone but does not delete what it already narrated.
Children
Chattenborough is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Questions go to dchattenborough@gmail.com.
